ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY UPDATES
Update | Feb. 26, 2024
STUDY COMPLETE
The Bangerter Environmental team would like to thank everyone in the community for providing feedback on the future of Bangerter Highway between 4100 South and California Avenue. The Final State Environmental Study (SES) document is complete and can be viewed here. In the final document, you can review the environmental study and findings, the Preferred Alternative maps and potential property impacts.

The release of this document concludes the Environmental phase of the project. Partial funding for construction will be available as early as 2027. The specific construction phasing for the intersections has not been decided. Once a decision is made, this website will be updated.

WHAT CHANGED BETWEEN THE DRAFT AND FINAL SES?
STUDY OVERVIEW
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is conducting a State Environmental Study (SES) to evaluate potential freeway-style improvements, like interchanges and frontage roads, on Bangerter Highway between 4100 South in West Valley City and California Avenue in Salt Lake City. The improvements are needed to reduce congestion and improve safety for all highway users.

To determine the new design, the study team gathered traffic and engineering data, potential environmental impacts and community feedback. Based on this information, a proposed design was developed that includes constructing on- and off-ramps at 4100 South, 3500 South, Parkway Avenue, SR-201, 1820 South and California Avenue. Due to the spacing required between freeway-style interchanges, access on and off Bangerter from 3100 South and 2400 South would no longer be available.
